Krasnopol 152/155mm Artillery Guided Weapon Complex

Krasnopol

The "Krasnopol" complex is intended to hit small ground targets with a shot done from artillery systems of 152mm caliber (D20, 2S3M ("Akatsia"), 2S19 ("Msta-S"), 2A65 ("Msta-B") or from artillery systems of 155mm caliber (M109 A2/A6 (USA), G5, G6 (Republic of South Africa), FH77B (Sweden), TRF1 (France) and others) while designating targets with the aid of a beam of the laser designator/rangefinder.

As distinction from conventional standard artillery projectiles which engage area targets, the "Krasnopol" ensures destruction of individual targets from the covered fire positions by the first shot without fire adjustment.

The standard targets for the complex are the following:

  • positions of tactical missile launchers, MLRS, artillery pieces;
  • self-propelled artillery pieces, tanks, infantry combat vehicles and armored carriers, both moving carriers and stationary ones;
  • pillboxes, bunkers;
  • bridges and crossings;
  • landing and transport ships and crafts.

laser designator rangefinder

The projectile features dual-mode guidance:

  • inertial guidance in the middle part of the trajectory;
  • laser semi-active homing on the end branch.

The projectile homing ensures a primary hitting against an upper, vulnerable target portion.

Due to laser homing and high explosive fragmentation warhead the complex enables to destroy targets of different types effectively regardless their thermal, acoustical and other characteristics and protection rate.

The KRASNOPOL ensures to reduce:

  • number of artillery pieces involved by 2-3 times;
  • time to accomplish combat mission by 5-10 times;
  • combat mission cost by 3-10 times.

With decisive combat advantages the KRASNOPOL is capable of:

  • destruction of single targets with rate of fire up to 3 rounds per minute without registering fire;
  • salvo firing from multiple weapons against the high-protected target designated by a single laser designator rangefinder;
  • firing from up to 4 howitzers against several targets simultaneously, making no mutual interference;
  • effective firing with reduced demand on weather and ballistic data;
  • effective firing to a distance of up to 10...12 km without weather and ballistic data (on the basis of topographic data).

charges

The KM1 KRASNOPOL complex caliber 155-mm (2K25 caliber 152-mm) consists of:

  • 155-mm high-explosive fragmentation projectile K155 KRASNOPOL (152-mm high-explosive fragmentation projectile 30F39 KRASNOPOL);
  • VK155 propellant charge and standard propellant charges of the artillery system caliber 155-mm (complete multisection and fractional charges of the artillery system caliber 152-mm);
  • laser designator rangefinder 1D22.

The complex can be delivered with radio set (R159M) and synchronization means (1A35M).

KRASNOPOL guided artillery projectile doesn't require special maintenance and storage conditions.
