30-MM SINGLE-BARREL AIRCRAFT CANNON
The cannon is intended to arm aircrafts.
It is mounted on aircrafts MIG-29, SU-27.
There exist two versions of the cannon mounts: stationary or movable.
The cannon is a single-barrel design of the automatic mechanism of an open type. The
cannon feed mechanism is of the double action type and feeds from a cartridge belt.
Used for firing are high-explosive incendiary projectiles and armour-piercing
tracer projectiles intended to hit light-armoured and easy-to-hit ground,
surface and airborne targets. The principle of operation of the automatic mechanism is based
on the energy of barrel recoil.
The fire is remotely controlled from the power supply source rated at
voltage of 27 V.
Points the cannon is secured on the mount are the following:
- the front support - is a body spherical surface
which takes up the recoil force and imparts it to the mount powered support;
- the rear support - represents breech guides fixing the
cannon on the mount for the purpose of preventing it from turning round the
longitudinal axis;
- the additional support - represents a cylindrical surface
of the barrel muzzle portion supporting the barrel on the mount.
